Floor Sanding Maynooth

[/dfd_heading][vc_column_text]Not too long back a man by the name of Philip Nolan called us asking for a floor sanded. At first, we didn’t recognise his name. With a quick Google search, we quickly understood the importance of this man and how big this project may end up.

Philip Nolan is the current Chief Officer of Maynooth University. He’s oversees everything that happens in the entire university from teaching to capital development or in our case renovations. He was looking to get a few of the halls around the offices sanded and varnished along with one long
hallway in one of the main buildings. Each of the floors in question were stunning herringbone parquet floors that suit the elegance of Maynooth University in general.

The halls situated in the office buildings were stained darker than regular wood floors when they were first put down. He sent us on a picture of the floor from back in the day and just asked us if we could replicate it. We had no doubt in our abilities and guaranteed it would look extremely similar, if not the same as when it was first installed.

The long hall in the main building was a beautiful mixture of parquet designs and colours. The sides were made from parquet floorboards in block shapes on both sides. In between this was a herringbone parquet layout with a complicated twist. Every second row of floorboards was a different shade. It went from light to dark and light again for the entire length of the floor. It is hard to imagine the time and level of craftsmanship went into this floor when it was being laid first.

We assured Philip that we wouldn’t mess with any part of the design and would bring it back to it’s original best with a sand and clear varnish.
Philip didn’t give us much of a time limit to get it all finished but we had just enough space available in his time frame. He didn’t exactly care when it was completed as long as it was ready for the new term. He was calling in December and needed us to get the work done over the holidays since the
students will be back in the beginning of January for their exams.

The project was started on the 20 th of December and just the sanding alone continued on to the 23 rd of December. This might seem late for some, but we were actually getting the work done on time and more importantly, around the colleges schedule. With the sanding completely out of the way, all the RH Wood Floors staff had a couple of days off for Christmas. A handful of the crew that were willing to work just a few days after Christmas finished the project
before the start of the New Year. One of these was our owner Russell who was dedicated enough to get this finished within our time frame and secretly just wanted to come to appreciate the beauty
that is Maynooth Universities Wood Floors.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”848″ img_size=”large”][dfd_spacer screen_wide_resolution=”1280″ screen_wide_spacer_size=”10″ screen_normal_resolution=”1024″ screen_tablet_resolution=”800″ screen_mobile_resolution=”480″][vc_single_image image=”850″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
